Musicians: Join us…About UsThe Linden Hills Chamber Orchestra is an adult, non-audition orchestra. If you are a musician interested in becoming a member, contact the Recruitment Coordinator to confirm that there is an opening for your instrument. You can then make arrangements to try rehearsing with the orchestra. If there is no position currently available, you may wish to have your name added to the orchestra's list of players to be contacted for future openings or substitutions. RehearsalsThe orchestra's season is approximately the same as the Minneapolis Public School year, from September through mid-June. Regular rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:30 p.m. Rehearsals are in the band room of Southwest High School (unless otherwise notified). The school is located at 4717 West 47th Street (at the intersection of West 47th Street and Chowen Ave. S.) in Minneapolis. Enter through doors #1 or #15 on the north and south sides of the annex, just off Beard Avenue South. The band room is up the stairs, on the second floor of the west building. Street parking is available, but be aware that some of the streets are restricted to residents who have permits, so please carefully observe the parking signs. Click here for a parking map. PerformancesThe LHCO performs concerts free to the public. Its two primary concerts are performed in early December and in early to mid-April. Most concerts are scheduled for Thursday evenings; dress rehearsals for the December and April concerts are on the prior Wednesday evenings. In addition, the orchestra usually performs at a residential care facility about two weeks prior to those two concerts. In May and June, the orchestra performs several bandshell concerts, which have included performances at the Linden Hills Neighborhood Festival, the Lake Harriet Bandshell, Minnehaha Falls Park, and Como Park Lakeside Pavilion. DuesThe operating expenses of the LHCO are financed primarily though dues paid by its members. Currently, the dues are $45 per semester ($90/year). ContactOpenings• Bass
